Although \u2026 since the Whigs have argued convincingly they\u2019re an R&amp;B band despite forming as a \u201cgrunge\u201d group, maybe it\u2019s not so mismatched.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-body\" data-qa=\"article-body\">\n<p class=\"font-copy font--article-body gray-darkest ma-0 pb-md\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\" data-el=\"text\">Below: Peiter \u201cMudge\u201d Zatko testifies on Capitol Hill, and the U.S. government calls out foreign influence operations by Russia.<\/p>\n<p data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\" data-el=\"text\">A White House office is publishing guidelines this morning for how federal agencies and government contractors will comply with\u00a0<strong>President Biden<\/strong>\u2019s demand last year that federal systems and vendors meet common cybersecurity standards.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-body\" data-qa=\"article-body\">\n<p class=\"font-copy font--article-body gray-darkest ma-0 pb-md\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\" data-el=\"text\">The memo \u2014\u00a0<strong>which The Cybersecurity 202 is first reporting<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 is perhaps the most-awaited cybersecurity guidance from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) since Chief Information Security Officer\u00a0<strong>Chris DeRusha<\/strong>\u00a0joined the Biden administration at the beginning of 2021, he told me.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-body\" data-qa=\"article-body\">\n<p class=\"font-copy font--article-body gray-darkest ma-0 pb-md\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\" data-el=\"text\"><strong>It stands to affect the security of government systems and therefore the ability of feds to provide services, as well as the process for billions of dollars worth of federal contracts.\u00a0<\/strong>That, in turn, could pressure any company that might want to do business with the federal government to meet the government standards, as a senior administration official told reporters last year before rolling out Biden\u2019s executive order that spawned today\u2019s memo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-body\" data-qa=\"article-body\">\n<p class=\"font-copy font--article-body gray-darkest ma-0 pb-md\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\" data-el=\"text\">\u201cWe\u2019re all using Outlook email.
